Issi, thanks for replying :)

I can see that coming to the fair with a list of books prepared can be compared to have a set of scripted tests. The way I see it is that you come to an exploratory test session with a list of areas you want to start from.
So at the end, I can interpret it very close to your generalized "buy a novel and 2 biographies", just a bit more specific.

The best part is that everyone can tweak the analogy to fit the model in his head. :)

I really liked the analogy. But I think that we could use it for any test prioritize process and not only for ET. Moreover - coming prepared with a list of books (or tests) is more fitted into the traditional test execution method.

For me, a complimentary analog for ET , would be more like(I dropped the exact budget calculation by propose):
going to the affair with a list that says that I would like to buy a novel and 2 biographies, then be attract with the cool books edition stand looks what's new there - throw it back, move to few more stands, pick few novel and few biographis, leave some of them that I didn't liked their cover and end up with 1 Biography, 1 novel and one drawings book.
